An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate/s to join a rapidly changing and expanding Scan 4 Safety team at our forward thinking NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a multi site service with locations at Trafford, Oxford Road, Wythenshawe & North Manchester.

We are looking for an individual who is keen to learn about Scan 4 Safety and Procurement in the healthcare sector; someone who is able to methodically deal with information and data and translate that into fantastic customer service. You will need to be strong willed, numerate and a great communicator with a close eye for detail.

Main duties of the job

  • Implement and maintain service standards across key departments and wards, undertaking the day to day ordering activity on behalf of the customer, in line with agreed protocols.
  • Ensure that customer’s requirements are always met in the most cost effective way possible, ensuring continuity of supplies.
  • Carry out quarterly reviews with appropriate ward/departmental leads, using system information to illustrate spending patterns, identify and agree all products and stock levels with the customer, monitor usage and activity patterns and place timely and accurate orders to maintain agreed levels.
  • Maintain regular customer contact to ensure stock levels and the range of products held are regularly reviewed, reflect activity and are updated in agreement with the customer.
  • Assist in value for money studies to contribute to savings set targets and regularly report spend/saving activity.
  • Receive, check and put away all deliveries. Ensure items are rotated, stored in the correct location and store areas are left tidy.
  • Process and monitor discrepancies ensuring that returns and credits are processed appropriately.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

What is a DBS Check?

A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:

Standard DBS

Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

Enhanced DBS

Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

Enhanced with Barred Lists

Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children’s and/or adults’ barred lists.

Who Needs a DBS Check

Most roles involving direct patient contact, working with children or vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information will require a DBS check. The job advert and recruitment team will let you know if this applies to your role.

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

Qualifications

  • Good standard of basic education or equivalent experience
  • Studying for CIPS, Supply Chain & Logistics or other related qualification

Experience

  • Working knowledge of recognised Electronic Materials Management systems
  • Experience in basic software packages Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Understanding of Scan 4 Safety and GS1 initiatives.
  • Experience of a customer services related department or similar environment.
  • Previous experience in a local NHS Supplies Department
  • Demonstrable understanding of medical stock management.
  • Understanding of simple purchasing activity
  • Previous experience of working in a team environment.

Employer certification / accreditation badges

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
