AnzUK Education are supporting an SEND school in Bristol with their recruitment for longer term cover requirements. Our school caters to students with various learning needs including Autism (ASD), Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). We are currently looking for learning support assistants to work with students of all ages to support them in their learning and daily tasks such as help with eating and personal care.

The Role
- Enabling pupils with SLD, Autism and PMLD to access the curriculum.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation experience have been requested.
- Support teachers/therapists/pupils to implement therapy programmes in a holistic way throughout the school day.
- Provide support with feeding and toileting needs.
- You may be asked to move across the school to support in various classes so willingness to work with all ages is essential.
- Utilising effective behavioural management techniques to assist in promoting an optimal learning environment within the classroom.
- Assisting the teacher to set-up engaging and interactive practical lesson activities.
The role requires candidates who would be willing to commit to short and long-term position 5 days a week, between 8:30am – 3:30pm.
Qualifications and Criteria
- Enthusiastic, patient and resilient nature.
- Comfortable with personal care – i.e. toileting and feeding.
- Be comfortable with using a hydro pool for therapy sessions.
- Passion and willingness to work in SEN environment, previous SEN experience is not essential but would be advantageous.
- Possess an Enhanced Child DBS with an update service subscription, or demonstrate the willingness to apply for one through AnzUK.
- Additional training in manual handling, SCIP, Makaton, PECS or similar would be advantageous but not essential.
Pay rates depend on experience, role type, umbrella or paye rate selection.
