Facilities Technician – Hillwood Primary School

Salary £27,257 – £29,850 (pro-rata for part time). Hours: 12 per week.

Schedule: Monday to Thursday 7:00–9:30 am and Friday 7:00–9:00 am.

As a Facilities Technician with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team, delivering vital janitorial services across our estate to keep properties safe workplaces or learning environments. You will work in secure and flexible employment with above‑market rates and excellent conditions, enabling a good balance with family, caring or study commitments.

Major tasks and job activities

You will undertake day‑to‑day facilities management, janitorial and DIY operations across one or more buildings, ranging from small repairs and general maintenance to reactive cleaning, supporting moves and performing basic security functions.

  • Equipment, furniture and fitting maintenance
  • Building maintenance and services
  • Security of premises and grounds
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Cleaning and tidying

The role involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Applicants must be willing to join the PVG scheme or update their check, and provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check if previously abroad for 3 months or more within the last 5 years.
