Overview

The position offers an opportunity to support the immunisation team in delivering the school‑age flu vaccination programme across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent from September to December 2026.
Responsibilities
- Undertake the delivery of nasal flu vaccinations under the supervision of a qualified nurse.
- Maintain up‑to‑date clinical knowledge within your scope of practice.
- Promote good health through clear communication with children, young people, parents and school staff, adapting your style to suit each audience.
- Be aware of the signs of child abuse and apply the appropriate child protection procedures.
- Build and maintain relationships with team members and other key individuals across the organisation.
- Prioritise and manage your workload independently or as part of a team while maintaining confidentiality and diplomacy.
- Participate in learning and development courses, including safeguarding training, to ensure competency for the role.
- Use techniques to manage young people or children who may be anxious during the vaccination process.
- Participate in relevant emergency preparedness processes for your team.
- Carry out other duties as necessary to meet changing needs and management requirements.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.
- Relevant experience working with children and young people.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, trust and comply with information governance and data protection requirements.
- Good organisational and time‑management skills, with the capacity to prioritise tasks.
- Daily access to transport and the ability to travel between rural and inner‑city areas, including carrying vaccines in your own car, with business insurance.

Working Hours & Location
The service core hours are 8am to 4pm (9am to 3:30pm) Monday to Friday. Out‑of‑hours and weekend cover may be required occasionally. The role is based in Tamworth, covering East Staffordshire, but may involve travel to schools and clinics throughout the region.
