LGBTQ+ & Chemsex Recovery Coordinator

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced LGBTQ+ & Chemsex Recovery Coordinator to break down barriers to treatment and support people to make lasting changes. This specialist role combines outreach, partnership working and expert case management to engage people with complex needs and facilitate pathways into recovery.

Responsibilities

• Engage with LGBTQ+ communities across Brighton & Hove through outreach, building trusted relationships in community settings.
• Provide specialist case management for individuals involved in chemsex or using club drugs, including harm reduction, health promotion, and recovery‑focused support.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with sexual health services, community organisations, healthcare professionals and wider partners.
• Identify emerging trends, develop innovative approaches and act as service lead for LGBTQ+ and chemsex‑related practice.
• Support development of peer‑led groups, represent the service at partnership meetings, and contribute to service development and quality improvement.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, risk management and care planning in accordance with safeguarding and trauma‑informed principles.
• Provide services during late evenings and Saturday mornings to meet community needs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Significant experience working in drug and alcohol services with complex caseloads.
• Experience supporting LGBTQ+ communities and people involved in chemsex or club drug use.
• Strong skills in case management, assessment, care planning, risk management and person‑centred approaches.
• Knowledge of harm reduction, recovery‑focused practice, safeguarding, and trauma‑informed care.
• Experience in outreach, community engagement and building partnerships across organisational boundaries.
• Excellent organisational and IT skills, and ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and passion for reducing health inequalities.

Additional Requirements

• Recognised qualification in substance misuse, health, social care, counselling or a related discipline preferred.
• Experience with public health approaches to reducing inequalities and knowledge of local treatment pathways in Brighton & Hove.
• Ability to establish peer support groups or community‑led recovery initiatives.
• Experience representing organisations at partnership meetings, networks or multi‑agency forums.
• Commitment to flexible working hours including late evenings, Saturdays and community locations.
