Job Overview
The key function is to support NHS Property Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees. You will be based in Boldon and will cover sites across County Durham on a permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned and reactive maintenance services from the PPM planner, ensuring operational standards are maintained at all times.
- Fault find, repair, and install plumbing systems and equipment, including minor repairs, replacements and remedial works.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on a range of plumbing systems and equipment.
- Support water hygiene programmes and legionella compliance activities, including responding to legionella management programmes.
- Maintain and update site log books and compliance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Work safely and in line with company policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Provide excellent customer service while working within occupied healthcare environments.
- Support the Projects/Construction team and Technical Supervisor in identifying, scoping and delivering minor capital works for NHS premises.
- Plan and organise complex activities and adapt within a changing and challenging work environment.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests and participate in on‑call rota duties.
Qualifications & Requirements
- NVQ Level3 Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent) and proven experience in commercial plumbing maintenance and repairs.
- Knowledge of water systems, water hygiene and legionella control measures.
- Experience carrying out fault diagnosis and planned preventative maintenance activities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Self‑motivated, safety‑conscious and able to work independently across multiple sites.
- Formal apprenticeship or craft training equivalent to NVQ Level3 Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- Previous experience working within a buildings maintenance environment using method statements or permit to work systems.
- Ability to assess problems and plan solutions, including complex technical issues.

Working Hours
Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm with participation in an on‑call rota.
