Job Description

The Plant Apprentice will learn and develop skills in the maintenance, repair, and servicing of plant machinery under the guidance of experienced technicians. This role provides hands‑on training and formal qualifications to build a career in technical services.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with inspections, servicing, hire and repairs of plant equipment and tools.
• Learn to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
• Assemble machine parts and components.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely.
• Read basic engineering drawings and diagrams.
• Measure and check tolerances accurately.
• Install or remove mechanical equipment.
• Maintain compliance with internal Company procedures.
• Help maintain accurate service records and job sheets.
• Learn how machinery and mechanical systems work.
• Follow training instructions from experienced fitters and supervisors.
• Develop practical engineering and fitting skills over time.
• Attend college or apprenticeship training sessions if part of the programme.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Uphold and promote the Company’s Core Values – Care, Trust, Respect and Sustainability.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science.

Desirable

• Proven interest in plant operations within an engineering or construction environment.
