Overview


We are looking for a qualified Bank Chef to work part‑time at Barchester homes. The role offers flexible hours, a focus on fresh seasonal food, and an opportunity to create nutrition‑balanced menus in a people‑centred environment.


Responsibilities



  • Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well‑balanced menus.

  • Adapt menus to meet individual resident needs.

  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.

  • Prepare fresh produce and deliver high‑quality, wholesome dishes at the highest standards.

  • Create a warm, efficient and enjoyable working environment.

  • Work within the kitchen budget.

  • Complete regular audits and maintain HACCP compliance.

  • Manage stock control and assist in leading and motivating the kitchen team.


Qualifications



  • Hold City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ, or equivalent qualifications.

  • Experience in leading and inspiring a kitchen team.

  • Good understanding of nutrition and resident dietary requirements.

  • Experience with fresh seasonal food.

  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.

  • Personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in resident wellbeing.
