Term Time Position
We are seeking to expand our team of SUMMIT 1:1 Intervention Mentors at Millside SEMH Specialist School in Slough.
Millside School is part of Haybrook College Alternative Provision Academy which runs unique programmes at KS4 and revolving door provisions at KS3/KS4. The school supports up to 85 pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
Job Overview
In this role you will organise and deliver SUMMIT programmes for students who struggle to engage with learning, delivering individualised teaching and mentoring both on site and off site. You will manage learning environments and resources, prepare reports, support data collection for pupil behaviour, attendance, and academic achievement, transport pupils to and from programmes, and encourage engagement and cooperation with peers.
Responsibilities
- Organise and deliver SUMMIT programmes for students who struggle to engage with learning.
- Deliver individualised teaching and mentoring programmes on site, outdoors, and offsite.
- Organise and manage appropriate learning environments and resources.
- Write reports and support data collection for pupil behaviour, attendance, and academic achievement.
- Transport pupils to and from individual programmes as required.
- Support pupils consistently while recognising and responding to their individual needs.
- Encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others and assist teachers to ensure all pupils are engaged in activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with young people, especially those with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, active listening.
- Good interpersonal and people skills that motivate and support children and colleagues.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work schedule effectively to meet deadlines.
- GCSE Level 2 education or equivalent.
- Valid UK driving licence.

- Term‑time position paid on the Slough Level 4 pay scale (range 1‑4). Starting salary Level 4.1 £24,302 (£28,254 FTE) for 39 weeks per year, term time plus inset days.
