Healthcare Assistant

You must be able to evidence GCSE MATHS & ENGLISH or equivalent on the day (original certificates) and we will not accept other qualifications such as engineering degrees. The subject of the qualification must be Maths and English. We will not offer an interview if the candidate fails to provide these on the day.

If you are new to care you must complete a care certificate when you commence employment with CDDFT and be paid on Annex 21 arrangements (£25,272) until completion.

Main duties of the job
County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust are seeking motivated, dynamic Healthcare Assistants to join our team, who will complement our current experienced and specialist workforce, who are passionate about providing optimal care for our patients. If you are an experienced Healthcare Assistant you can also apply.
Please ensure you have full ID documents available to bring with you. Full ID information can be found on the supporting document and you must prepare for the day by sourcing references to cover the last 3 years (email address of employers). You must also provide GCSE certificates in English and Maths or equivalent to match the person spec and will need to provide these on the day. If you are unable to provide these on the day you will not be interviewed.
This role is 24/7 rota so we will not be able to offer specific plans (nights or days only). Please confirm in your application you can work 24/7 rota.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients’ homes.

Qualifications
- GCSE equivalent in English and Mathematics – able to produce both certificates on interview day to proceed to interview.
- Willingness to complete care certificate within first 6 months of commencement in post (paid Annex 21 until complete).
- NVQ Level 3 in a Health‑Related Subject or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Short courses relevant to undertake patient and clinical care duties.
- Care Certificate.
