At Mitie, we are eagerly looking for passionate security enthusiasts to join our Security Guard teams nationwide for our new, exciting project with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Job Overview
- Flexibility to travel, as this role will cover various DWP sites within the region.
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for DWP staff, visitors, and property.
- Patrol the premises regularly to identify potential security threats.
- Respond effectively to emergencies or suspicious situations.
- Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
- Provide a high level of customer service and assist staff and visitors in any security‑related matter.
- Conduct routine security checks and submit incident reports as appropriate.
- Adhere to Mitie and DWP security policies, procedures, and regulations.
Operations
- Be aware of and ensure compliance with all aspects of policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK law and guidance bodies.
- Fully and satisfactorily complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI’s).
- Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions and suggest amendments to improve service levels.
- Wear the required industry and statutory licence (front‑line licence in Security Guarding or Door Supervision) at all times while on duty.
- Maintain the Customer‑required CCTV PSS SIA licence and complete additional contractually required courses.
- Comply with all legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
- Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.
- Work in a systematic, methodical and orderly way.
Training
- Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
- Undertake additional training to ensure continuous self‑development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
- Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
- Renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
- Look out for and immediately report any health & safety hazards or potential hazards on site.
- Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment and take appropriate action to reduce disruption, loss or damage.
- Use common sense and initiative by involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
- Maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
- Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident for the Incident Report process.
- Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
- Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
Qualifications
- Previous security experience.
- Licence required (DS licence preferred).
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Front‑line licence in Security Guarding or Door Supervision.
- Renewal of licences compliant with statutory requirements.
