My client, a leading hedge fund, is seeking a Head of Platform Engineering (AI) to join their team in London.

This is a growing hedge fund building a proprietary, AI-first internal platform for recruitment and research. We’re seeking an experienced Head of Platform to take ownership of this existing, production-grade system and lead its evolution, scale, and modernization. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and organizational build.

What You’ll Do

• Own full technical responsibility for a large-scale, distributed enterprise platform serving research and recruitment functions
• Assess current architecture and define a pragmatic, ambitious modernization roadmap
• Champion modern architectures: event-driven systems (Kafka), API-first design, graph databases (Neo4j), and production-grade LLM/AI capabilities
• Drive engineering discipline through design reviews, CI/CD excellence, and operational resilience
• Partner with product, data, and commercial teams to translate priorities into clear technical execution

Who You Are

• 10+ years in software engineering with proven senior technical leadership experience
• Track record of owning and scaling existing enterprise platforms (not just greenfield)
• Strong hands-on expertise: Java/JVM, Kafka, API-first architectures, Neo4j, AI/LLM systems in production
• Experienced leading hybrid onshore/offshore delivery models
• Pragmatic, delivery-focused, and comfortable operating from architecture depth to executive altitude
