Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing business to recruit a Head of Quality. This is a key leadership appointment offering the opportunity to shape and deliver the company’s quality strategy while leading a high-performing technical team across a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
Reporting to the Operations Director and forming part of the senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in driving food safety, quality excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring the business maintains the highest standards of compliance, customer satisfaction and operational performance.
As Head of Quality, you will:
- Develop and implement the company’s long-term Quality Strategy, aligning it with wider business objectives.
- Lead and develop the Quality function, creating a high-performing, engaged and customer-focused team.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, legal, regulatory and customer standards.
- Champion a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the manufacturing site.
- Lead customer, retailer and third-party audits, ensuring the site remains audit-ready at all times.
- Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventative improvements across quality systems.
- Build strong relationships with customers, regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor quality performance through KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance and product quality.
- Work cross-functionally with Production, Operations and Commercial teams to embed quality into business decision-making.
What You’ll Need
- Degree qualified in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least five years’ experience in a senior Quality or Technical leadership role within food manufacturing or FMCG.
- Strong knowledge of food safety legislation, quality management systems and retailer standards.
- Proven experience leading customer and third-party audits.
- Demonstrable success in leading teams, developing people and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance operational priorities and strategic objectives.
