MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE BUSINESS:n As a Lead Platform Engineer (Consultant) in Kainos, you’ll be responsible for leading teamsn to design, automate, build, manage and optimise modern digital service platforms. It’s an fast-paced environment and you’ll be trusted to make sound, reasoned decisions. You’lln do this whilst learning about new technologies and approaches, with colleagues that willn help you to learn, develop and grow. As the technical leader in the team, you will alson interact with customers, share knowledge and mentor those around you.

Your key responsibilities will include:n • Working as part of a team – You’ll work alongside colleagues in engineering, testing,n consulting, product management and security capabilities to build, test andn deploy software of the highest quality; including the operation and continuousn improvement of underlying platform services.n • Using technology for positive impact – You’ll ensure the latest technologies aren employed appropriately and aligned with industry best practices for maximum usern and business benefit.n • Share your knowledge – As a respected technologist within Kainos, you’lln begin broadcasting your opinions. MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTSn • Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to simply andn clearly communicate technical design (or significant portions thereof) in
n
conversation, documentation and presentation to a technical and non-n technical audience.
n
• We all work in teams here in Kainos – You’ll need a proven experience of teamn leadership and supporting a DevOps culture in delivering and/or supportingn complex projects.
n
• Significant expertise in:n o Designing, building, testing, automating, monitoringn and/or operating, enhancing and improving reliability of modern digitaln service platform in production environments.n o Using the latest Continuous Delivery and automation techniques forn releasing operationally ready software to production, includingn platform orchestration through the use of multiple configurationn management tools.
n
• Demonstrable experience in:n o Building and/or supporting modern digital service platforms to includen architecture, design, estimation, planning and iteration on MVP using an modern agile approach.n o Championing best practice use of Site Reliability Engineering tooling,n techniques and processes to manage and improve existing platformn services. E.g. monitoring, platform modernisation and cost optimisation.n o Use of a public cloud platform(s) including SaaS or PaaS offerings (AWS orn Azure) to solve business problems.

DESIRABLEn • Obtained certification with a public cloud provider (AWS/Azure).n • Obtained certification relating to a particular area of specialisation e.g. Kubernetesn CKAD.
