Salaried GP – Lerwick GP Practice (Ref: 252400)

Substantive post. Up to full time (40 hours) available (part time applications welcome).

Salary & Benefits

• Salary £83,950 – £125,157 Per Annum (depending on experience)
• Incl. 2% local supplement
• Distant Island Allowance £2,578 per annum
• Relocation Assistance up to £8,000 (pro‑rata for part‑time positions)
• 15‑minute appointments standard; double appointments accommodated
• Protected learning time one afternoon each week
• Weekly visits to local care homes
• Fully electric fleet of vehicles and electric bike for patient visits

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general practice care to a list of around 8,600 patients
• Collaborate with an integrated multidisciplinary team including an in‑house pharmacist, district nurses, first‑contact physiotherapist and advanced nurse practitioner team, as well as the Hospital at Home and Community Mental Health teams
• Maintain continuity of care for patients and encourage staff to see patients over time
• Participate in the daily morning huddle and social coffee break and attend daily practice meetings
• Attend weekly scheduled visits to local care homes
• Explore opportunities to join the voluntary out‑of‑hours GP team and demonstrate flexibility within the working week
• Engage in clinical learning, governance, and discussion of complex cases during specified protected time

Qualifications & Requirements

• Qualified General Practitioner
• Must be eligible to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or complete an update prior to a formal offer of employment
