Divisional Director of Operations

Job Overview

Senior leadership role responsible for strategic and operational management of the Surgical Division at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, ensuring delivery of high‑quality patient care, financial accountability, and continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Surgical Division, including the development of business plans and budgets.
• Ensure contracting activity meets delegated budgets and agreed quality standards, risk management processes, and Health and Safety requirements.
• Work with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and lead service improvement and performance strategies.
• Oversee line management of all non‑clinical staff within the division, including Service Managers and departmental Heads.
• Lead the divisional leadership team in the delivery of emergency and elective activity across the division’s specialties.
• Participate in the Trust’s on‑call rota.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or equivalent management qualification.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing service or business planning.
• Evidence of efficient and effective budget leadership and monitoring.
• Master’s degree within healthcare or a related subject is desirable.
• Senior management experience within an acute healthcare setting.
• Leadership experience across more than one discipline or function.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
• Effectively communicate with all employees and stakeholders.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: £94,356 to £108,814 per annum (pro‑rated if part‑time).

Contract: Permanent.

Working pattern: Full‑time with flexible and compressed hours.

Benefits include: paid holiday (35 days pro‑rated), pension scheme, car parking (fee applies), on‑site leisure centre, and day‑nursery.
