Salaried General Practitioner – Lerwick Health Centre

Overview

Salaried GP – Lerwick GP Practice (Ref: 252400). Substantive post, up to full time (40 hrs) – part‑time applications welcome. Practice based in the heart of Shetland’s capital, Lerwick, with a patient list of around 8,600.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary £83,950 – £125,157 per annum, depending on experience
• 2 % local supplement
• Distant Island Allowance £2,578 per annum
• Relocation assistance up to £8,000 (pro‑rata for part‑time)
• Fully electric fleet of vehicles and electric bike for home visits
• Protected clinical learning time: one afternoon each week
• Daily huddle, social coffee break, weekly care‑home visits

Responsibilities

• Provide general medical care to a diverse patient population, using standard 15‑minute appointments (double appointments as required)
• Attend daily huddle and share updates on patient care
• Visit local care homes and maintain continuity with patients
• Collaborate with MDT members – pharmacist, district nurses, physiotherapist, nurse practitioners, hospital at home team, community mental health team
• Flexible to join voluntary out‑of‑hours GP team if desired

Qualifications & Requirements

• Qualified GP (eligible for GMC registration)
• Will join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme before formal offer
• Part‑time applicants welcome, pro‑rata benefits
