Project Director

We are looking for Project Directors to manage high‑value, challenging projects and programmes within the Defence and Security sector. In this role you will report to the Senior Delivery Lead and be responsible for delivering projects according to the project plan.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams to scope and deliver tasks to budget, on time, and within client expectations and the WSP Business Management System. This includes chairing meetings, writing reports, organising resources and monitoring finances.
• Accountable for all aspects of project performance, achieving outcomes to meet or exceed targets for commercial, quality, schedule and client satisfaction performance, with additional requirements of the Defence and Security sector such as security management.
• Work with a growing and diverse team on complex building and infrastructure projects that span the RIBA design stages.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in the Defence and Security sector in a project/programme management capacity delivering building or infrastructure projects (not IT infrastructure) with a demonstrable understanding of working in accordance with security protocols.
• Knowledge of any of the following:
  • MOD policy, processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of the JSPs, in particular JSP 850
  • The Green Book and 5‑case model for business cases
• Experience in Design and Build, ECI or alliancing delivery models with a strong design and construction link.
• An existing network within the Defence and Security sector.
• A professional qualification in a relevant technical discipline (engineering, building, quantity surveying, project or construction management).
• Recognised project or programme management qualification from one of the following: PMI, APM, RICS, CIOB.
• NEC3/4 PM qualification.
• You must be eligible to achieve Security Clearance.
