Podiatrist – Peterborough

Overview

To provide specialist footcare for patients with diabetes and complex high‑risk foot problems. This includes acute and chronic foot wounds, neuropathic and vascular complications, immunosuppressed foot complications, and poor tissue viability.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinically responsible for treatment of the high‑risk caseload, working autonomously and as part of the multidisciplinary team.
• Accept emergency referrals from GPs, community podiatrists and other health professionals, providing responsive specialist care to both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Provide expert assessment, diagnosis and management of complex diabetic foot disease, including ulceration, infection, Charcot neuroarthropathy, vascular compromise, lower limb wounds, and pre‑ and post‑amputation care.
• Lead and coordinate MDT activity, provide rapid access to specialist assessment and intervention, and develop evidence‑based treatment plans across acute, outpatient and community settings.
• Deliver advanced wound management, debridement and high‑risk foot care, supporting integrated patient pathways to improve outcomes and reduce complications and amputations.
• Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives, including the National Diabetes Foot Care Audit (NDFA).
• Provide education, mentorship and clinical supervision to colleagues and students, promoting best practice in diabetic foot care.
• Lead across multiple sites, including Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital, within a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications & Candidates

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist. Priority will be given to staff at risk within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board.
