Associate Lecturer – Learning & Employee Development
Position: Associate Lecturer in the Birkbeck Business School, supporting the undergraduate module “Learning and Employee Development” for the academic year 2026.
Type: Fixed‑term, part‑time teaching contract.
Location: Birkbeck, University of London.
Grade: 7.
Teaching: 1.5 hours of face‑to‑face teaching per week for 9 weeks (Autumn Term starts w/c 5 October 2026).
Additional duties include producing up to an hour of pre‑recorded lecture content each week (paid at £27.87 per hour).

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver face‑to‑face teaching for the module, facilitating lectures, discussions and group activities.
- Record and refresh lecture content using the Panopto platform.
- Prepare, assess and provide feedback on a 1,500‑word coursework report and an accompanying 5–7 minute student presentation.
- Support students in developing critical evaluation of theories, practitioner perspectives and evidence‑based learning interventions.
- Mark coursework and presentations and provide constructive feedback.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business and Management, Psychology or similar.
- At least 2–3 years of experience teaching and supporting students in seminar or lecture contexts.
- Experience recording educational material on Panopto or equivalent platform.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key theories in Learning and Development.
- Strong academic writing and presentation skills.
Remuneration
Hourly Rate: £69.68 per hour (inclusive of pro‑rated London Allowance, holiday pay and a 2.5× multiplier for teaching‑related duties, covering preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties).
Contract
Fixed‑term, part‑time, with contact hours worked on a per‑hour basis. Formal application required via the online system.
