Job Overview

We are delighted to announce a new B6 post at the Western General in Edinburgh. The post will be in the Oncology/Haematology team in the Edinburgh Cancer Centre. It is full time and permanent funding. We have a very established team who work with patients at every stage of the cancer journey.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand our service, providing education and supporting other members within the team.
  • Act independently to provide a full comprehensive specialist service of assessment, diagnosis, treatment/appropriate management, onward referral and discharge to a complex range of patients referred to the service.
  • Supervise occupational therapists, assistant practitioners, clinical support workers and occupational therapy students.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes for a wide range of professionals and carers to educate carers and significant others about the therapy process and interventions relating to management of patients’ medical and social needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience working in Oncology/Haematology and Palliative care would be desirable.

To hold a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Any changes will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team.

Work in the United Kingdom requires the individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country, typically granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service.
