Childrens Play and Health Care Worker
Lagans Foundation is looking for a dedicated Childrens Play and Health Care Worker to support children with complex health and developmental needs through play‑based interactions, personal care, and emotional support in home and community settings.
Responsibilities
- Support children in home and community settings, ensuring safe, high‑quality care.
- Use play to connect, support learning, development and emotional wellbeing.
- Provide personal care where needed and use play to build confidence and independence.
- Follow individualised care plans, record key observations and maintain accurate written records.
- Build trusted relationships with families and colleagues.
- Attend regular team meetings, training sessions and supervision to develop skills.
- Maintain consistent communication across the care team.
- Think on your feet and adapt to each child’s unique world.
- Represent Lagans Foundation as a true ambassador of care and community.
Shift Pattern
- After‑school and weekend sessions: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4:30pm–6:30pm; Saturday 8:30am–10:30am.
- Additional shifts may be available depending on training and availability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with children and young people.
- A love for play‑based learning and interaction.
- Confidence to work independently and collaboratively.
- Level 3 Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
- Level 2 Health and Social Care (or willingness to complete).
- Experience supporting children with complex health needs, disabilities or developmental delays.
- Experience delivering play‑based learning or therapeutic play.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child development.
- Training in first aid, moving and handling, epilepsy awareness, PEG feeding or other relevant clinical skills.
- Experience working within a homecare or community care environment.
- Experience working with families and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Understanding of emotional well‑being and behaviour support strategies.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and ownership of a vehicle with business insurance.
- Enhanced DBS – Child and Adult Workforce (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship (UK national, settled/pre‑settled status, ILR, ILE).
- Minimum 6months experience working with children or young people.
- Willingness to undertake personal care tasks where required.
- Availability to work the required shift pattern (after‑school and weekend hours).
