Role Overview
The Children in Care Team is large and dynamic and the Social Work Assistant’s within the Family Time Service play a vital role in the delivery of services to our vulnerable children and their families. This role involves facilitating and supervising family time, ensuring children have the best experience and supporting parents as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and supervise family time between children in care and their families, ensuring the best experience for the children and supporting parents appropriately.
- Assist in transport arrangements to support the implementation of care plans.
- Accurately document sessions for use in assessments and to inform care plans.
- Produce high‑quality reports and case notes, collate information, and liaise with social workers and other professionals to inform complex case conferences and court work.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with families, foster carers, and other professionals.
- Assist the Family Time Coordinator in an administrative capacity, including scheduling, ensuring paperwork is received, and providing cover during leave or other circumstances.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Kent and beyond; public transport is not a viable option.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with families, foster carers, and professionals.
- Excellent report‑writing and documentation capabilities.
- Command of spoken English (English/Welsh) sufficient for effective performance, as required by part7 of the Immigration Act2016.
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8.30am‑5pm, with a possibility of extended hours at various venues.
