Job overview
An exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with previous clerical experience in a healthcare environment to join the community stroke team which delivers MDT care for stroke patients of Walsall.
Effective clerical support is essential to the team to deliver high quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
- Act as central point for all routine non‑clinical enquiries, messages and communications (verbal and written)
- Provide clerical support as required and/or as assigned
- Respond promptly and appropriately to external and internal telephone queries from clients, carers, relatives, members of the general public and the multidisciplinary team
- Refer any clinical enquiries to relevant clinical teams and team leaders in a timely manner
- Handle, maintain and track departmental files and/or patient records accurately, confidentially and sensitively according to approved organisational and governance standards
- Process details relating to patients and staff promptly and accurately and in an organised manner
- Enter appointment details or other job related data into computer as required
- Arrange meetings and attend meetings if requested; take and produce accurate minutes of the meeting, and circulate supporting papers adhering to set timescales
- Work on own initiative by planning own workload and/or tasks, arranging own diary to resolve conflicting appointments to ensure needs of the service are met
- Request stationery and other consumables relevant to local base using e‑procurement system and/or non‑stock in line with financial standing regulations, maintain adequate stock levels, receive deliveries ensuring that they are checked, logged and forwarded to the appropriate staff member

Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English
Experience
- Experience in office and administration procedures
- Ability to demonstrate confidentiality
- Experience of working in a health care office environment
- Knowledge – able to contribute to the processing, modification, structure, maintenance, presentation and monitoring of data and information with a team or as assigned
- Service Improvement – able to contribute to the improvement of service, making recommendations and applying suggestions as agreed within the team
