Lead Social Worker

Job Overview

Lead Social Worker needed at Victoria Gardens in Huyton, a specialist rehabilitation facility for service users with complex mental health needs. The role involves managing and supporting a caseload of individuals with mental health conditions, performing assessments, producing CPA reports, participating in mental health tribunals and managers hearings, and supervising junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support a caseload of service users with mental health conditions.
• Conduct assessments, produce CPA reports, and represent the service at mental health tribunals and managers hearings.
• Supervise junior staff members and provide quality supervision and appraisal to junior and senior social workers.
• Lead and promote adult safeguarding and deliver safeguarding induction and update training.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams on non- medical mental capacity issues and best-interest decisions.
• Deputise for the Lead Social Worker in quality assurance meetings.
• Liaise with external agencies (e.g., MAPPA, Local Authority Social Services, CMHT, FIND, FOLS, police and probation) to support statutory duties.
• Support carers and families of detained patients.

Qualifications & Experience

• Registered with Social Work England and holding a valid Social Work qualification.
• Good working knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Minimum 3‑4 years’ experience working in a similar environment.
• Knowledge of Good Lives Model and recovery-based practice is desirable.
