About the Role

Are you passionate about maintaining a safe, clean and well‑functioning environment? Join our team as a Building Services Officer (BSO) and play a crucial role in ensuring the maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our College facilities.

We are currently recruiting for two Building Services Officers, offering the opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team.

As a BSO, you will work alongside colleagues to undertake maintenance, repair, security, and groundskeeping tasks, contributing to the overall well‑being of our campuses and their users. This role offers a varied and hands‑on work environment, including janitorial duties, statutory compliance, security, and performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key holder and manage building access
  • Perform routine inspections and security checks
  • Operate and monitor fire and intruder alarm systems
  • Conduct compliance testing (e.g. emergency lighting, fire extinguishers)
  • Support reception areas and manage deliveries
  • Carry out basic maintenance and janitorial tasks
  • Assist with audits and inter‑site deliveries
  • Work alongside contractors on major projects

What We’re Looking For

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • SIA training/qualification/licence
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • NVQ Level 2 in a maintenance‑related trade
  • Experience in facilities management, ideally in an educational setting
  • Familiarity with CCTV systems and incident management

  • Competent in using helpdesk and electronic systems
