HGV Class 2 Refuse Collections Driver (SWSUFF)

Salary: GBP16.59 – GBP16.59 per hour

We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated HGV Class 2 Refuse Collections Driver to join a busy waste management operation based in Stowmarket, Suffolk (IP14). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Class 2 driver looking for consistent weekday work, competitive pay, and the potential to secure a permanent position with a well-established organisation.

Location: Stowmarket, Suffolk, IP14

Pay Rate: £16.59 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm

Contract Type: Temporary Ongoing with Potential for Permanent Employment

This is a hands‑on role that combines professional driving duties with assisting the collection crew to ensure refuse and recycling rounds are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily refuse and recycling collections across designated routes
  • Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles and associated collection equipment
  • Assist refuse loaders when required to ensure rounds are completed efficiently
  • Use in-cab technology and mobile devices in accordance with operational procedures
  • Complete all required paperwork and electronic records accurately and in real time
  • Conduct daily pre‑use and post‑use vehicle inspections, reporting defects promptly
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of vehicles and equipment
  • Follow safe manual handling and lifting procedures at all times
  • Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with residents and members of the public
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, road transport regulations, and health & safety requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
  • Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card
  • No more than 6 penalty points on your licence
  • Willingness to assist with loading duties as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, hardworking, and self‑motivated
  • Flexible approach with the ability to undertake a variety of tasks
  • Previous refuse collection or waste management experience is advantageous but not essential
  • A clean driving licence is desirable
