We are looking for an Apprentice Gardener, to join our Council’s Grounds, Trees and Country Parks department as an Apprentice Gardener, based within the Swindon areas of Wiltshire, to assist with the service delivery of planned and reactive maintenance work.
This is a fixed term contract in accordance with the length of the apprenticeship.

Do you have an interest in horticulture?
Whilst working towards a Level 2 Horticulture and landscaping apprenticeship, your main duties, under supervision, will include using best practice in horticulture, maintaining general gardening, landscaping, and fencing/gate repairs in our Sheltered housing areas and Country Parks. You will be working in the public domain representing the Borough Council.
You will maintain the highest level in customer care in line with Service standards and a uniform will be supplied.
This role will demand a level of fitness, you will be bending, lifting, twisting manual handling and working outside in all weather conditions.
The use of mechanically powered machinery is a requisite of this role as is driving a light goods vehicle. You will fully comply with SBC and the Industry, Health and Safety Policy while delivering the Service.
At times you may be required to work on your own, your ability to work independently use own initiative, You will also be required to learn regular maintenance rounds and be able to work from plans to identify correct areas for maintenance.
Willingness to learn to drive – hold at least a provisional driving license or will obtain a provisional driving license upon appointment and pass the SBC transport driver assessment.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
