We have a vacancy for a Trade Counter Technician at our Northampton Centre. Within this role, you will be expected to deliver a high level of customer service in operational and sales activities, ensuring customers receive a fast and efficient response to sales enquiries, building customer loyalty and enhancing the company’s reputation for service.
Key responsibilities and skills
- Administrative support to the franchise principal
- Answering the phone and helping the Centre Manager to control and direct the mobile engineers and vans
- Always be well presented and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required
- Assemble hydraulic hoses to customer requirements
- Assist with stock control, ordering and product sourcing
- Proactively sell to both existing and new customers in order to meet and exceed sales and margin targets, continually building and developing the customer base at the branch
- Accurate and regular order entry to help achieve minimum time delay between receipt of order and dispatch of goods, thereby maximising sales/stock turnover
- Log and process jobs through the Pirtek IT system
- Pro-actively promote Pirtek products and services to walk-in customers
- Day to day operation of the sales counter area, ensuring it is kept clean, presentable, well stocked and merchandised at all times
- Actively promote Pirtek products and services to Trade Counter customers
- Abide by terms and conditions in your Employment Contract and Confidentiality Agreement
- Authoritative and senior aptitude/approach to ensure systems and procedures are followed
- A methodical and consistent approach
- Good numeracy skills
- Good organisational skills
- Good communication skills both orally and written
- Good telephone manner
- Good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel
- A good understanding of computer accountancy software, preferably Sage or Xero
- Always present yourself in a professional and courteous manner to all
- Ability to work in a small organisation that expects a flexible work attitude
- Ability to work in a ‘robust’ manual/engineering environment
- No heavy lifting or other manual work is required
Work experience
Previous experience in a technical/engineering environment advantageous but not essential.
Educational requirements
GCSE in English and Maths.
