Job Overview
A vacancy has become available for a Junior Renal Technician for University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust. The Sussex Kidney Unit provides care for patients across Sussex on a hub and spoke model, with the main dialysis unit based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and satellite units in Worthing and Bexhill.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair dialysis machines and related equipment to ensure patient safety and compliance with clinical standards.
- Travel across Sussex to visit satellite units and provide on‑site support for home dialysis patients.
- Develop skills under supervision to manage all dialysis equipment and progress toward a full autonomous technician role, including on‑call duties.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of a higher national certificate in a relevant science or engineering field.
- Ideally experience in renal technology or a clinical engineering background.
- Full UK driving licence required to travel to various sites.
Additional Information
The department maintains 126 haemodialysis machines and associated equipment, including 5 central RO plants and a fleet of 20 home patient machines, across three main sites in Sussex.
