Job Title: Nursery Teacher
Location: Two schools in London – Putney, SW15 6EH and Southfields, SW19 6SP
Salary: Level 3 and above – £33,000 to £34,000Level 2 – £27,500 to £28,300
Job Type: Full time, Permanent
Working hours: Monday to Friday; 7:15 am–5:15 pm / 8 am–6 pm / 8:30 am–6:30 pm (1 hour lunch break + 15 min coffee/tea break)
Applicants must be resident in the UK and able to commute to the school locations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that the high standards and philosophy of Noddy’s are always implemented in front of children, parents and other staff members.
- Follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and use all relevant paperwork to plan, observe, track and move children forward to their next stage of development.
- Be responsible for a key group of children, keeping an accurate record of their developments and achievements.
- Write termly learning journeys for each child in your key group.
- Maintain awareness of each child’s individual care needs, including medical information, sleeping and dietary needs.
- Record children’s sleep times, eating habits and bottle‑feeds, and undertake weekly observations.
- Prepare and complete activities, both in the classroom and in the garden, suited to each child’s stage of development.
- Ensure that the children are safe and that safeguarding procedures are always adhered to.
- Monitor sickness and temperature policies and notify management and parents as required.
Specific Child Care Tasks
- Provide toys, activities and equipment appropriate to each child’s developmental stage.
- Sing, read stories and play games with the children.
- Supervise meal times, feeding and serving food as necessary.
- Change nappies at regular times throughout the day or when required.
- Create displays with children’s work and keep classroom displays up-to-date.
- Wash up painting materials or kitchen utensils used and clear up after activities.
- Assist in the induction process for new children who have joined Noddy’s.
- Ensure safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards are always maintained.
- Communicate regularly within the team, supporting other members of staff.
- Greet, approach and talk to parents every day.
- Conduct termly parent/teacher meetings (three per year).
- Liaise with parents, carers or family members, forming professional relationships and share their child’s development.
- Be flexible within working practices of the nursery, helping where required.
- Work alongside management ensuring the standards and philosophy of the nursery are maintained.
- Attend out of hours meetings, such as parent evenings, events and staff meetings.
- Uphold the reputation and standards of Noddy’s, both within working hours and outside.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members as a team.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a nursery school (Level 2, Level 3, Level 5 or QTS – early years qualification preferred).
- Other relevant titles considered: Early Childhood Educator, Preschool Instructor, Child Development Specialist, Early Years Practitioner, Pre‑Kindergarten Teacher.
