Leaving Care Personal Adviser
Brighton & Hove Council is seeking two staff members in the 18+ Team to support Care Leavers transitioning from care homes to independent living.

- Salary: £34,434 – £39,152
- Hours: 37 hours per week for full‑time (fixed hours), 28 hours per week for part‑time
- Location: Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove, BN3 3BQ
- Closing date: Midnight 19 July 2026
- Interview dates: 27 July 2026 (and TBC)
Responsibilities
- Provide individual support and advice to Care Leavers, helping them adapt to life in the UK and achieve settled status.
- Assist young people in accessing education, training and employment opportunities.
- Teach budgeting, problem‑solving and independence skills.
- Support successful accommodation management and stable housing arrangements.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle and facilitate access to health services.
- Encourage positive use of community and leisure services.
- Help maintain and nurture family and friendship links.
- Ensure Care Leavers understand and meet civic responsibilities as citizens.
- Work jointly with statutory services (health, adult social care, mental health, probation, immigration, Home Office) and community/voluntary organisations.
- Participate in a pod model of supervision, including weekly group supervision, monthly 1:1 supervision and reflective practice groups.
- Support families and communities that experience racism, contributing to the council’s anti‑racist initiatives.
Additional information
Applicants will be subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 exemption and a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
Starting salary will be pro‑rated for part‑time positions.
