Early Years Teaching Assistant

Position

Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2027 – Full time, 37 hours per week (Mon – Fri 8.30am to 4.15pm, 5.00pm on Wednesdays). Term Time Only + 2 Weeks. Start date October 2026. This post is for three terms only to cover a maternity leave position. Job share available.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside pupils aged 2 to 3 years old and children with additional needs.
• Act as a key worker for a group of children.
• Support the classroom team and assist in other areas as needed.
• Work well under pressure and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with parents and colleagues to support children’s development.

Recruitment Requirements

• Confidence, enthusiasm and a highly motivated attitude.
• Experience working in Early Years with children who have additional needs (essential).
• Holding an approved ‘full and relevant’ Early Years qualification and inclusion in staffing ratios.
• Capacity to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

Employment Details

• Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2027.
• Working hours: 8.30am – 4.15pm Monday to Friday; 5.00pm on Wednesdays.
• Term Time Only + 2 additional weeks pay – calculation based on teaching weeks, public holidays, CPD weeks, and statutory leave entitlement.
• Job share available.
