Overview

The Neurology Department is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to provide typing support for the Neurology department. You would be expected to provide day‑to‑day secretarial and administrative services employing advanced audio‑typing skills with the use of medical terminology. This post will give you an exciting challenge and the opportunity to play a key‑supporting role in the development of the service. It is a busy but rewarding department with a strong emphasis on teamwork and achieving departmental targets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to the triage team within the neurology department.
  • Support secretarial and administrative colleagues in meeting departmental objectives.
  • Operate transcription equipment, including RSA II or equivalent, to produce accurate medical records.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and patients at all levels.
  • Manage day‑to‑day secretarial duties in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with transcription equipment, RSA II or equivalent.
  • Good all‑round secretarial knowledge of office practice and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Audio typing experience (RSA II or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of the Trust’s current Information Technology systems (e.g. Medisec, Patient Centre, EPR, G2 dictation).
