Interim Business Analyst – £500pd

Rate: Up to £500 per day (Umbrella, inside IR35)

Length: Contract to October 2026 (scope to extend)

Client: Major Public Sector organisation

Location: Hybrid and UK-Wide (Nottingham, Birmingham, Leeds, Ipswich, London, Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh, Exeter, Cardiff)

We’re looking for an experienced, Interim Business Analyst to join a major public sector transformation programme, helping shape the future of operational efficiency through business change, process improvement and the development of a robust Unit Cost Framework.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a BA who combines strong business analysis skills with a solid finance background, and enjoys turning complex operational processes into meaningful, data-driven insights.

The Role

You’ll play a pivotal role across a portfolio of business change initiatives, including process transformation, service improvement, technology-enabled change and cost modelling.

Working closely with Finance, Operations, Data and Technology teams, you will:

  • Lead workshops to gather and challenge business requirements.
  • Map As Is and To Be business processes using BPMN.
  • Link business activities to underlying cost drivers, ensuring full traceability from process to output.
  • Support the development of a Unit Cost Framework and cost allocation methodology.
  • Analyse operational performance, identify improvement opportunities and contribute to business cases.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify data requirements, system dependencies and reporting needs.
  • Support testing, implementation and business readiness throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to deliver sustainable, evidence-based business improvements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering complex business change programmes.
  • A strong finance background, including unit cost frameworks, cost modelling or cost allocation.
  • Excellent BPMN process mapping experience across end-to-end business processes.
  • The ability to connect business processes with operational cost drivers and performance metrics.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Experience working within public sector organisations.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the confidence to challenge, influence and drive change.
