Opportunity

This is a limited‑term (6 months) contract which may be extended at the end of the contract, for a minimum of 8.25 hours per week. The test centre opens Monday‑Wednesday 7.30–16:15, Thursday 7.30–19:15, Saturday 7.30–12.15 with alternate Saturdays 7.30–16:15. Shifts may include 3‑hour lunch cover, split shifts between 5.50–8.25 hours, occasionally 11.25 hours, a variety of shifts, and short‑notice sickness cover. The role suits applicants within a short travelling distance of the centre at Seven Dials, Hove, and requires a minimum 14‑day notice for rosters. Current students are not suitable for this role.

Pay is £13.60 per hour, paid at the end of each month in arrears.

This role provides an opportunity to support a wide range of test‑taking candidates in a secure, friendly environment.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, greet and check‑in customers/test‑taking candidates.
  • Comply with exam testing security and procedures and follow company policies.
  • Verify personal identification documents and explain exam rules.
  • Proctor and invigilate candidates while they complete their exam/test.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with internal departments such as IT.
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as vacuuming floors and sanitising keyboards/workstations.

Qualifications

We are looking for a friendly and professional team‑player with school qualifications in English and Maths. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is an advantage. The ideal candidate is flexible to work a variety of shifts Monday‑Sunday, includes early‑morning, late‑night, and weekend hours, and is comfortable in a quiet testing environment. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to monitor restricted behaviour from a distance are required, as is the capacity to sit for long periods and escort candidates to and from the exam room.
