An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Service Manager to lead the operational delivery of Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery and Clinical Health Psychology services at The Royal London Hospital.

The Neurosciences Directorate at The Royal London Hospital brings together specialist teams delivering expert care for patients with complex neurological and spinal conditions. It includes Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, Neurology, Neurophysiology, Stroke and Psychology services, working collaboratively within a strong multidisciplinary framework to provide coordinated, high-quality care across the patient pathway.

As Service Manager, you will be responsible for the operational leadership, performance, and development of the Directorate’s Surgical Specialities, as well as Clinical Health Psychology.

Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery are highly specialised, complex services delivering cutting‑edge surgical care across a broad range of neurological and spinal conditions. You will play a key role in ensuring patients receive timely, safe, and effective treatment while supporting clinical teams to continually improve outcomes and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operational management of neurosurgical and spinal patient pathways
  • Provide operational support to the Clinical Health Psychology network
  • Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for Neurosurgery and Spinal Surgery services, assisting the Clinical Director, Lead Clinicians, Senior Nurse and General Manager to ensure that these services are responsive, innovative and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.
  • Take forward agreed projects to improve service delivery and patient experience in key areas.
  • Lead on ensuring that all performance/quality targets are met.
  • Problem solve as appropriate, and develop and implement lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical colleagues. To be a key member of the Divisional Management Team, taking full responsibility for actions and for keeping other team members fully informed at all times.

The post holder will manage a team within the division.
