What you will be doing
As the Finance Manager you will be responsible for financial control, all company financial & MTB compliance procedures, statutory reporting, and support finance related projects for the northern region.
Key responsibilities
Finance compliance and reporting
- Responsible for the annual Statutory Accounts and company statutory reporting requirements to government bodies to ensure minimum statutory requirements are met, e.g., Tax and VAT requirements.
- Owning the balance sheet of the opco and collaborating with the Finance Planning and Analysis Manager for all compliance financial activity, including Balance Sheet and P&L transactions and reconciliations to ensure alignment with internal group accounting and external accounting standards.
- Responsible for balance sheet month‑end activities, forecasting, balance sheet reporting, board pack and any other relevant reviews from the balance sheet perspective, aligning accordingly with the FP&A manager.
- Advising on compliance matters for complex transactions and large deals, ensuring that all accounting impacts of these deals align with accounting standards.
- Serving as subject‑matter expert for the opco and region on group policies and advising on compliance matters when needed, collaborating with group finance as relevant.
Finance control
- Coordinating all financial audit activities, both internal and external, and ensuring findings are managed and resolved.
- Coordinating and being accountable for SOX testing and advising on risk management from any detected control risks.
- Acting as first line of control from the opco and region perspective on the work performed by the SS.
- Providing cash reporting and advising on key actions to improve cash position.
- Owning the local chart of authority and participating in the approvals process across several areas.
Project based work
- Leading or participating on projects related to control and process improvements across the OPCO or the region.
- Supporting, where necessary, all finance and commercial activity‑based projects.
People management
- Leading and mentoring a team of up to 3 people.
- Managing team resources as per overall finance workload.
- Developing and providing training and support to the team as relevant.
You will ideally have
- Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or international equivalent, educated to degree level.
- Proven control or audit experience within a comparable size organisation or an audit firm.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- IT literate, including intermediate to advanced Excel.
- Innovative and self‑motivated.
- Good commercial skills / thorough understanding of the business and its market.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to influence and negotiate key stakeholders up to and including directors.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Flexible attitude and a team player.
