Senior or Principal Carbon Consultant
Here at Nature Positive, part of the RSK Group, we are seeking a motivated and technically proficient consultant, at either senior or principal level depending on experience, to support the delivery of whole‑life carbon and organisational and project‑level greenhouse gas assessments within our Carbon, Climate & Built Environment Sustainability Team.
You will work across Nature Positive’s carbon and built environment sustainability service streams, carrying out whole‑life carbon assessments in the built environment and infrastructure spaces, advising project teams on carbon reduction strategies, and carrying out general organisational GHG assessments and other related work.
Key responsibilities
- Conducting whole‑life carbon (WLC) assessments for construction and infrastructure projects using One Click LCA software.
- Contributing to PAS2080 compliance and construction carbon management planning.
- Creating Circular Economy statements aligned with GLA requirements.
- Conducting organisational greenhouse gas (GHG) assessments, verifications, and reports to relevant standards, including data collection and quality assurance, calculations, and reporting.
- Developing decarbonisation plans to help guide construction projects and broader organisations towards lower GHG emissions.
- Carbon reduction target‑setting using the SBTi method.
- Contributing to new business development, including developing leads and writing project proposals and tenders.
- Delegating tasks to more junior colleagues where appropriate and providing suitable support as required.
- Providing training and technical support to other team members as required.
- Carrying out other appropriate tasks and duties as reasonably requested.
Qualifications and experience – required
- First or 2:1 BA/BSc qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. environmental or construction management, sustainability, civil engineering), or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong working knowledge of sustainability and carbon management in the construction sector, via either in‑house or consultancy contexts.
- Relevant experience in a consultancy environment: at least three years (senior consultant) or at least six years (principal consultant).
- Close familiarity with relevant standards including the RICS whole‑life carbon assessment standard, the LETI suite, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol series.
- Very strong quantitative and Excel skills.
- Significant organisational and project‑level GHG assessment experience.
- Demonstrable experience at self‑management and working under own initiative, including managing multiple projects or workstreams.
Qualifications and experience – beneficial
- Implementing or running the PAS2080 carbon management system.
- Coding, software or GIS knowledge.
- Experience with BREEAM, LEED or WELL.
- Running training or workshops.
- Setting formal science‑based GHG reduction targets (SBTs).
- Business development or commercial experience.
- Line management experience.
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. ISEP, RICS).

Further Information
This role is full time (40 hours per week) and permanent, although a part‑time arrangement can be considered.
Location: office‑based or mixed working, with a combination of work from home and attendance in RSK’s Bristol, Manchester or London offices at least two days a week. There may be occasional visits elsewhere in the UK, primarily for team/colleague meetings or client work.
Salary range (DOE): £39,000 – £45,000 (Senior); £45,000 – £55,000 (Principal). Please state which position you are applying for.
