Rehabilitation Assistants – Southern Parishes and Waterside

We have exciting opportunities for Rehabilitation Assistants in our Community Therapy Teams in both Waterside/Totton & Southern Parishes (Hedge End, Bursledon & Netley).
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to support people in their own homes through rehabilitation. You’ll be part of a friendly, multidisciplinary team where your contribution truly matters.
You will support patients in maximizing their independence at home and within the community by assisting with exercise programs and providing essential equipment.
As a Rehab Assistant, you’ll work under the guidance of experienced Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, and you will also work alongside Community Nurses and Frailty Services. Our aim is to provide high quality, safe services which improve the health, wellbeing and independence of the people we care for.

Applicants must have full access to a vehicle for work and possession of a full driving license is essential.

Main duties of the job
- Work under indirect supervision from the Therapy Team Leader, Senior Therapists, and Therapists, responsible for a delegated workload.
- Implement therapy to a designated caseload, e.g. therapeutic handling.
- Participate in treatment activity.
- Deal with distressing/sensitive issues.
- Ensure patients and carers are an integral part of their treatment planning and goal setting.
- Be responsible for issuing standard aids, while demonstrating an awareness of local cost implications.
- Maintain up‑to‑date written and electronic records, reports and activity data in accordance with professional and Trust standards.
- Provide intervention in a variety of environments, including client’s home, hospital/healthcare settings, schools and work settings, to meet client needs.
- Take part in procedures to ensure smooth running of the team such as patient registration, liaison reporting and recording data.
- Adhere to national and local manual handling guidelines.
- Support the work of the registered practitioners in the team and prepare patients for and assist with clinical/therapeutic activities or treatments.
- Provide a therapy service and develop continuity of care under the supervision of a Supervising Therapist within the laid‑down policies and procedures / code of ethics.

Qualifications
- Experience of working within healthcare.
- Full UK driving licence required at the time of application.
- As this role is out in the community, we cannot accept applicants with a non‑GB licence.
