Eligibility
This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ which includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff, and volunteers at the Trust. Applicants from candidates not listed within these groups will not be accepted.
Graduate visa holders may apply if they have a minimum of 6 months before the visa expires at the start of employment.
Applicants must undergo an Enhanced DBS check; the cost is payable by the successful candidate. Candidates who have lived or worked abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years must obtain an overseas police clearance.
Responsibilities
- Provide the highest possible standard of care for patients and their families, under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse.
- Provide compassionate personal care, recognising and meeting the specific needs of patients.
- Assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual programmes of care for patients.
- Undertake delegated clinical care duties including personal care, recording patient observations and changes in clinical conditions, and carry out duties in line with the Clinical Competency framework.
- Participate in a 24‑hour shift pattern and possible rotation between wards within the speciality.
- General bed making/making up of clean beds in readiness for new admissions, and operating beds.
- Clear and clean vacated bed spaces and prepare them for use according to ward/unit protocol.
- Prepare used linen bags for collection by porters and ensure adequate supply of linen bags/skips ready for use.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas.
- Safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per Trust policy.
- Be familiar with Trust policy and procedure for reporting clinical incidents and assist in the safe handling of patient valuables and property.
- Support with clerical duties in the absence of or in support of the ward clerk (e.g., reception/telephone duties / filing) to ensure smooth operation.
