This SEMH Support Assistant role is ideal for a SEMH Support Assistant who is patient, adaptable and confident supporting a child with additional needs. We are seeking a SEMH Support Assistant to join a primary school in Barnet from September 2026, working closely with a Lower KS2 pupil to support their learning, emotional development and classroom engagement.
As a SEMH Support Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a male pupil in Lower KS2, helping them access the curriculum, manage challenges and build confidence within the classroom environment.
Role Overview
- Provide consistent 1:1 support to a Lower KS2 pupil with SEMH and high-level SEND needs.
- Support the pupil with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement throughout the school day.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship, providing reassurance, structure and encouragement.
- Adapt learning approaches and communication strategies to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
Candidate Profile
- A bachelor’s degree in any subject from a UK university.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting children with additional needs.
- Strong ability to build positive relationships and maintain consistent boundaries.
