Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic MDT Coordinator Assistant to join our Head and Neck Cancer team, supporting the delivery of high-quality care to patients throughout their cancer pathway. This role is based in London at University College London Hospitals, with a salary range of £34,186 – £37,389 per annum. The postholder will be expected to work a minimum 3 days on site, including the Day of the Head & Neck MDT.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will:
- Support the Head and Neck MDT team in coordinating and monitoring complex cancer pathways, ensuring patients progress within national waiting time standards, including the Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) and 62‑day pathways.
- Manage referrals from a variety of sources, including Inter‑Trust Referrals (ITRs), and liaise with internal and external organisations to ensure seamless care.
- Attend weekly MDT meetings, prepare meeting materials, record and communicate outcomes, and facilitate timely progression of surgical and treatment pathways.
- Work closely with clinicians and operational teams to identify and upscale delays, support surgical planning, capacity management, and maintain patient tracking lists.
- Maintain and validate cancer pathway data, contribute to COSD and other national reporting requirements, and assist with virtual clinic outcomes to ensure timely follow‑up appointments, investigations and discharge arrangements.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience or training in administrative procedures.
- Experience with a range of computerised software.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
Experience
- Demonstrable level of administrative experience, acquired through training and practice.
- Experience working in an office environment.
- Previous NHS or healthcare experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to supervise and deliver administrative and clerical duties appropriate to the role.
- Ability to lead local service improvement initiatives.
- Ability to implement improvements derived from local audit analysis.
