The Role

Hutchison Ports – Port of Felixstowe is the UK’s largest deep water container port and a major gateway for global trade. As a Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role within our management structure. Acting as a frontline leader, you will set direction, motivate your team, and ensure operational performance consistently meets the highest standards in line with customer expectations.

Role Overview

As a shift supervisor you will:

• Support and maintain a safe working environment; manage identified risks; monitor and intervene in real time; ensure direct reports have adequate facilities to deliver good safety standards.
• Maximise productivity, customer service and eliminate avoidable operational delays.
• Take an active role in pre‑shift and pre‑operational briefing and planning meetings.
• Participate in pre and post operational briefings, compiling relevant reports and issue lists to promote continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, standard operating practices, with recommendations for action and continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to planned activities with recommendations for action and continuous improvement.
• Assist and support the Operational Team with the allocation of labour and labour reports.

What you need

• Container operations experience (or demonstrable transferable operational experience).
• Demonstrate good leadership capability, particularly in a safety environment.
• Demonstrate an aptitude for working in a process‑driven environment.
• Interest in further developing your career through supported learning and active experience.
• Work to high personal standards exhibiting great communication and leadership skills.

Shifts & Pay

• Basic salary: £52,341
• Shift Pay: £14,919
• Hours: average 42 hours per week following a 4 on 4 off shift pattern
