The Role

We provide assessment and rehabilitation, continuing rehabilitation, and a range of transitional living options to support those progressing to greater independence. When a service user is admitted to Ty Aberdafen, they undergo an in-depth neurobehavioural assessment to determine their potential for social reintegration and increased independence.

Ty Aberdafen is a bright, modern purpose-built residential rehabilitation centre that provides rehabilitation and support services to people who have suffered various types of acquired brain injury. The service can accommodate up to 24 residents.

Within the centre, the residents are supported to participate in group sessions led by an in-house activity coordinator, with staff getting involved and accessing communal lounges such as the coffee shop, games IT lounge, and sensory lounge. Group sessions can be anything from baking sessions to arts and crafts, quiz days, disco nights, and many more.

The aims and objectives of the staff team at Ty Aberdafen are to provide residential accommodation, personal care, rehabilitation therapy, and support for people aged over 18 with cognitive, behavioural, and functional difficulties resulting from different forms of acquired brain injury.

Ty Aberdafen is under new management and the service is led by an experienced Service Manager, who is supported by a senior management team comprising the senior staff in the following areas – the clinical team, rehabilitation team, business management team, and the facilities team.

The people we support have access to a wide range of activities developed around their personal rehabilitation needs, personal interests, hobbies, and preferences. Many activities are included in individual rehabilitation programmes and support people’s independence, socialisation, and progress towards their individual goals, some of these take place in the centre and some are achieved by accessing the local community supported by our staff team.

Staff encourage and support people we support to take part in their preferred social and leisure pursuits, within the home and the local community. Whenever possible, people we support are encouraged and supported to use public facilities as part of their long-term rehabilitation and relapse prevention, and social reintegration programme, as well as for social and leisure purposes.

Our rehabilitation support staff work closely with the onsite clinical team and assist with the delivery of rehabilitation plans and therapy sessions.
