Akari Care is looking for a Maintenance Operative who shares our passion for caring for the elderly and wants to build a long‑term career in one of our award‑winning homes. We aim to create an environment where residents are valued, respected, and are offered the personalised care they deserve.
This hands‑on, practical role requires a mindset of compassion and meticulousness. As part of our home team, you will engage with, support and improve the quality of life for our residents, fostering respectful and approachable relationships that enable them to live comfortably, with dignity and self‑respect.
You will work closely with the Home Manager and the wider maintenance team to ensure that high standards are continuously met for maintenance in and around the home. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, internal decoration, grounds maintenance and safety, building repairs, supplies, utilities and general upkeep. You will assess all areas of the home daily, providing dedicated attention where needed and sharing your expertise to help colleagues maintain the same high standards.
What we require from you:
- Experience working in a similar environment
- Solid maintenance experience – building, DIY, cleaning, and housekeeping
- Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- General knowledge of plumbing and joinery
- An all‑round attitude to maintenance and repairs, with an innovative solution‑based approach
- Flexibility and adaptability to changes on short notice
- Ability to work well under pressure without negatively impacting those around you
- Warm, approachable, and engaging persona
- Respect for everyone, treating others as you would expect to be treated
- Resilience and adaptability to differing needs of colleagues and residents
