Design the Future of Hampshire – Join Our Team as a CAD Technician
The Role:
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced CAD Technician with excellent drafting skills and ideally building‑services drafting experience. You will generate drawings for our in‑house engineering and surveying teams, producing detailed drawings from technical information provided by building‑services design engineers and surveyors.
You will also be a confident communicator, working collaboratively with engineers and surveyors to ensure design and detailing drawings are produced to the highest standard.
You will join our team of engineers and surveyors and work on a wide variety of construction projects in a collaborative and supportive environment. The role offers the opportunity to develop your skills and progress your career.
Hampshire County Council Property Services is the largest in‑house, public‑sector property practice on the South Coast of England with 400+ employees. Our estate includes schools, libraries, museums, country parks, care homes, offices, activity centres, farms, and heritage assets, ranging from modern developments to listed buildings and scheduled ancient monuments. This role allows you to apply your professional skills and make a tangible difference to local communities across Hampshire and neighbouring authorities.
What you’ll do:
You’ll play a key role in delivering projects across Hampshire County Council’s Corporate Estate, helping to transform and improve buildings through accurate, high‑quality technical drawings. Working closely with engineers, surveyors and external partners, you’ll turn survey and design information into detailed AutoCAD plans that support projects ranging from refurbishments and upgrades to major extensions.
You’ll carry out building surveys when required, ensuring plans are accurate and up to date, while identifying and raising any survey discrepancies. You’ll also build strong relationships with project teams, consultants, clients and building users, collaborating to ensure designs are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards. Throughout your work, you’ll apply Property Services’ CAD standards, templates and protocols to produce professional, consistent, and reliable drawing packages.
What we’re looking for:
Join our team and use your technical expertise to support engineers and surveyors in delivering high‑quality building‑services projects. Bring strong CAD experience, a recognised qualification, excellent organisational skills, and confidence using Microsoft 365 and AI tools such as Copilot. This is an opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively within a supportive and professional environment.
Ready to Shape the Built Environment?
Apply today and bring your expertise to a team where your technical skills, innovation and attention to detail will make a real difference.
