Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEN provision in Croydon. This full‑time role starts ASAP and continues until July 2027, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a well‑resourced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons.
  • Lead small‑group intervention sessions to meet individual learning needs.
  • Take responsibility for leading the class when required.
  • Contribute to lesson planning and classroom preparation alongside the teacher.
  • Support pupils with communication and learning using a range of SEN strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated team to provide the best outcomes for pupils.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised HLTA qualification.
  • Previous experience working within a specialist SEN setting.
  • Confidence in leading groups and managing a classroom when needed.
  • Willingness to provide personal care.
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of Makaton is an advantage, though not essential.

  • Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
