We are currently recruiting for a reliable and hardworking HGV Class 2 Driver/Loader to join a busy Refuse & Recycling team based in Sudbury, Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Class 2 driver looking for consistent weekday work within an essential public service operation.
This is a hands‑on role that combines driving responsibilities with loading duties, helping to ensure collection rounds are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily refuse and recycling collections across designated routes
- Operate HGV vehicles and collection machinery safely and efficiently
- Assist with loading duties to support the crew and complete routes on schedule
- Use in‑cab technology and mobile devices as directed
- Complete all relevant paperwork and operational records accurately and in real time
- Carry out daily vehicle and machinery inspections before and after use, reporting any defects promptly
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of vehicles and equipment
- Follow safe lifting, manual handling, and health & safety procedures at all times
- Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with residents, customers and other road users
- Work professionally and positively as part of a team
What We’re Looking For
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence
- No more than 6 penalty points
- Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card
- Willingness to assist with refuse loading duties throughout the working day
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Self‑motivated and dependable
- Flexible attitude and willingness to undertake a variety of tasks
