Apprentice – Careers and Progression Adviser for Inclusion
36 hours – Fixed term role for 30 months
This Apprentice role offers an excellent starting point for anyone looking to build a career in careers guidance, combining hands‑on experience with a Level 6 Careers Development qualification through a 30‑month fixed‑term apprenticeship. You will be joining the careers and progression team within student services at the college and benefit from structured training, ongoing support and mentorship from experienced careers professionals to develop your practice and career.
You will work directly with a diverse student population, delivering one‑to‑one guidance sessions, group activities and administrative tasks. Your role is to develop as an adviser, providing high‑quality, tailored careers guidance to individuals with diverse support needs, including those with SEND, EHCPs, care experience and children of Armed Forces personnel. You will offer guidance throughout the learner journey, from pre‑enrolment through to progression, supporting students to achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one guidance sessions and group activities for a diverse student population.
- Carry out administrative tasks related to student support.
- Provide tailored careers advice to students with SEND, EHCPs, and other special needs.
- Support students throughout their learner journey, from pre‑enrolment to progression.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with students, staff and external partners.
Qualities and Qualifications
- Organised, motivated, and committed to completing the Level 6 apprenticeship.
- Strong interpersonal and empathy skills.
- Confidence in using digital tools for communication and record‑keeping.
- Ability to build professional relationships and work effectively in a team.
